world cup
so i'm already getting excited for the world cup. the US is gonna be a force to be reckoned with. sure they have a tough group (italy, czech republic and ghana) but they have been winning recently and gained qualification in a dominating manner.
I think the most impressive part of this US team is that they have so much depth. The teams they are fielding for national friendlies right now are based almost on only domestic players and is the caliber of teams from the previous world cup. and that says a lot since the US has done well in the past world cups. that said, most of the guys playing in the friendlies now wont even play come the world cup. in fact, the team will be much stronger.
what do you think? US winning the world cup trophy in 2006?

Sorry dude but the good ole US of A has no chance in the world cup. European and south american teams are much stronger.
Two names that you will not have heard of - but anyone watching in June will know by the end of the cup Rooney & Mille.

and while i do grant that europe and s. america are stronger, its a single elimination tournament in the second round. and after the US performance against Germany in 2002's quarterfinals where they dominated the match, it can only be said that they can be an underdog.
(kinda like the Steelers as the 6th seed taking the Super Bowl)
